First very impressive tests in a Clio Cup car (18.05.2011 & 20.06.2011)

Snetterton 300 circuit (18.05.2011)

Having successfully completed his first ever front wheel drive car test at Brands Hatch in the Mini John Cooper Works, it was time for Neb to try out the Uk’s premier one-make saloon-car championship, the Renault Clio Cup car.

Although the Clio Cup car is a front wheel drive car too, it is very different to the Mini JCW that Neb tested a few months ago. Clio does not have ABS brakes, is naturally aspirated and very light at the back, which again requires a different driving technique.

Neb was confident in his skills and talent so he decided to jump straight into the car and do an official test day with all the regular Clio Cup Championship drivers at the circuit he never saw before, let alone driven or raced at, the Snetterton 300 circuit.

At the end of the test day, Neb finished in 7th place, and in front of the other regular more experienced championship drivers.
20Ten Racing team that Neb tested for today, were very impressed with Neb’s speed, approach and the skills he showed.

Neb was very happy and added “Fantastic test day for me and the team. Even though I have never driven the Clio Cup car before nor ever been at Snetterton either, I really wanted to test today as I knew that all the regular Clio Cup drivers from the Championship would be here, and I only wanted to compare myself to the best current drivers in the Championship.”

Neb carried on later “Now we have seen again that I am a fast learner and a driver, and can adapt very quickly to any type of car I get to drive. Now it is just a matter of time before I decide which round to do in the Clio Cup Championship”

Silverstone GP (20.06.2011)

A month later another outing for Neb followed with 20Ten Racing but this time with some extra support from Phil Glew (BTCC, British GT driver and Clio Cup Champion 2009).

It was a track day at Silverstone, where Neb had Phil as a driver coach to help him prepare for Neb’s first ever Clio Cup race.
Again, at the end of the day Phil and the team were very impressed with Neb and his progress.

Neb commented: “Even though it was a track day with so many cars around, meaning no real chance to drive one clean lap or set a representative lap time, I have to say it was one of my best days in a race car. The reason for this is because I shared the car with no one else than the 2009 Clio Cup Champion, Phil Glew. I had a chance to see and learn how the car should be driven by the champion himself. My confidence is very high now and cannot wait until I decide on my first ever Clio Cup race. “

Neb added “Stay tuned!”
