Team:
Hillspeed formally known as Hill Speed Racing was formed in 1970 for the purpose of the team’s entry into the British Saloon Car Championship. Throughout the seventies the team concentrated on saloon cars but switched to single seaters in the mid eighties. During the early nineties Hillspeed concentrated its activities on building, preparing and maintaining high performance road and race cars that required meticulous preparation and attention to detail.
In 1996 Hillspeed returned to racing and made its debut in the ARP Formula 3 Championship. Over the next five years the team went on to dominate the championship winning more races than any other team and back to back championship titles in 2000 and 2001. The team expand its operations to include the British Formula 3 Championship in 2002.
A year later Hillspeed launched its Formula Renault team. It was decided that Formula Renault offered drivers the best structured and cost effective championship to show their ability in a slicks and wings car. The decision was based on the championship providing a level playing field with strict restrictions rendering unlimited driver budgets useless. The emphasis is on the driver’s ability and their skill in communicating with their team. Hillspeed prides itself on forming the strongest relationship possible between the driver and the team.
Hillspeed believe in providing not only its drivers, but also their sponsors the best environment for them to feel instantly at home within an established team.
